The Cumberland County School System will close schools for students on Wednesday, May 16 changing the day to an optional workday for teachers and staff.  No make-up day for students or staff will be required.  High School exam schedules will be modified.

Prime Time will be open for full day service in all sites that currently offer afternoon Prime Time.  Parents who will need Prime Time services on May 16 should call the Prime Time office to register their child for the full day service.

We have continued to monitor the number of teachers taking leave to participate in the “March for Students” Rally in Raleigh.  It was our hope to have an adequate number of substitutes to provide instruction for our students but as the need for substitutes has increased beyond our capacity to ensure students’ academic and other needs will be adequately met, the decision to close schools is in the best interest of our students.

We regret this decision creates work and child care concerns for our CCS families.
